Mekong delta comprises of 13 provinces which occupy an area of 40, 000 square kilometers in Southern Vietnam. It is considered as the biggest granary of Vietnam and provides 60% of the nation's rice. It is also a region that supplies many tropical fruits such as papaya, coconut, banana, etc. . .
In Vietnam, we usually call Mekong Delta 'the Nine Dragon River Delta'. Once the Mekong river flows into Vietnam territory, it splits into two main branches. Both of these branches divide into many tributaries. They used to empty into the sea at nine points. But today there are only eight.

ITINERARY

Pick up is arranged for 8:30 AM but time is flexible. Then we will depart Saigon for Tan Phu Dong district, Tien Giang province, which, is about 85 km away from Saigon city downtown. We will cross Mekong river on ferry boats. We can avoid the tourist crowds with a visit to more authentic places as follows: the rice paddy fields, fruit gardens and some local traditional industries. We will take in the many wonderful sights and enjoy the sense of just being there. Let uh help you to gain an understanding of the local people along with their customs and traditions. Then we will navigate a small canal by canoe and have lunch at a local family's house. Before returning back to your hotel, we will stop at a local owned fruit garden to try local delicacies.
